There are a few open Webkit / Safari bugs (on Apple's side) that can cause memory leaks and browser freezes / crashes on older iPhones with very large media objects...
I'm sure we can either find a workaround or at least increase pressure on Apple to fix their terrible browser 😅 Thank you!
This has been optimized as much as possible on our end.
The problem remains that Safari on iOS is riddled with bugs and artificial limitations. Safari can only allocate around 384mb of memory. Rendering very large images can crash the browser if the raw pixel size exceeds this limit, even though the powerful hardware in these devices would be capable of much more.
As a rule of thumb, it should be totally fine to edit images on the device they have been captured with. When you try to edit a 40 megapixel RAW file shot on a DSLR on your iPhone you might run into issues.
